The circular area on the plateau that Peter Lynch had been working on. The mounds consisted of coarser sand to the outside and fine sand on the inside slopes. The coarser areas looked drier and more exposed and would be planted with rock garden plants, however the main planting would consist of Stipa pulcherrima. In the fine sand areas, it would be Stipa calamagrostis

 
 

Planting the plants at the correct depth is crucial. Peter would rather they be buried completely than planted too shallow. Although the foliage would die off they would stand a much better chance of establishing in the moister lower layers of sand

 
 

Car park rain gardens at Jönkoping

 
 

The troughs that surround one of the car parks at Jönkoping were initially planted up using shrubby varieties. Peter was commissioned to replace this with a more low maintenance but highly ornamental herbaceous design.
