Corydalis ‘Canary Feathers’

Peter’s garden at Slottstràdgården in Malmö, Completed 8 years ago. Slottstràdgården is a large public park that includes a number of show gardens and a large allotment space. It is also the site of Malmö garden show

Peter’s garden had unfortunately suffered with theft of plants initially which meant he had to return and change the planting

This visit was to carry out some maintenance on the garden and to add in some planting that would prevent foot traffic over the beds

We were joined by Lina who works at the garden and a number of students and interns to weed through and tidy up the existing planting before adding in Lavander among other things (see the plant list)

All the beds in this garden are constructed from pure river sand to 10cm below the level of the paths. The tallest beds were roughly 1.5m in height and these were the ones that had the Santolina chamaecyparissus planted in them. The sand was still holding a considerable amount of moisture below the surface, the top 2-5cm was dry but below this the sand was cool and moist. The beds were covered in a gravel mulch of quite a large particle size giving a very natural landscape look

An installed green wall project of Peter’s in Malmö city centre, completed 4 years ago. Peter explained these had been beset by issues with the irrigation, leading to replanting

The tulips were now beginning to appear through the garden. Tulipa doerfleri
